Battersea and Blue Skies

Glorious blue sky in Battersea

Well, all this image needs is a flying pig and it would be perfect. Battersea Power Station is simultaneously exciting and depressing to behold. A glorious industrial relic of the 30s it has had a sorry history since the 80s with one developer after another getting involved, publishing amazing regeneration plans and gradually dismantling the building but not getting around to doing anything. The building has been open to the elements for a couple of decades now and will probably have to be demolished soon before it falls down. Meanwhile its sister down the river at Bankside has found a wonderful new life as the Tate Modern. Amazingly to me Battersea Power Station is another London landmark that appears on the list of buildings people most hate. Go to Next Image or Previous Image or LDN Gallery
