The Hindu Temple in Neasden

North London Temple

You wont find the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Hindu temple in Neasden, North London on the list of tourist must see sites. Built in marble, carved in India, by the local Hindu community in the 90s the temple accommodates 3000 people and can be found right next to Ikea just off the North Circular Road. Neasden has always been considered the absolute epicentre of mundane London (see Sid and Doris Bonkers from Private Eye) so it is mind boggling to stumble across this stunning building there. To add to the intrigue it is right in the heart of a pretty bad area where there is a pretty high degree of risk involved in having a camera on display. Go to Previous Image or LDN Gallery
