Smithfield Market on a Quiet Sunday Morning

Deserted Sunday morning Smithfield

As a working meat market this place is usually absolutely packed. I wandered past here early one Sunday morning and, for once, found it quite deserted. Smithfield is the only one of the original large produce markets still functioning in central London and is a fine site on a weekday morning. It is also a great area to eat with lots of excellent bars and restaurants - a London tradition after a serious night out is to head down here for a final pint and massive fry up in one of the pubs that open at 6:00 am.
